A homecoming…

Lettermans Club 1964 You may have noticed it’s been quiet round these parts for the past few months, some of you might’ve been thinking I’ve called this music lark a day in favour of a cheap suit and a regular pay-cheque but fear not dear fans, I was simply locked out. Yes, I raise my hand and admit I suck at computers, especially when it comes to site hacking issues, updates and in fact most things which don’t involve the most basic of instructions, fortunately thanks to my more technologically literate friends I’m back and there’s all sorts of stuff to blather about, things you’ve missed, things I’ve almost forgotten about and things in the pipeline so here goes…

The legendary Bill Brewster dropped in to join us on the Trick & Tom show sharing some amazing music and assisting with the usual ill thought out banter.

I indulged my love of all things go-go with a mix of some of my favourites from the scene called Paint The E.U Black

My old mate and recording partner Greg Belson followed Bill’s lead by popping his head round the door of the Resonance studio and shared some very dirty old funk and soul 45’s on a brief trip back to Blighty having upped sticks to LA not so long ago. Grab the show here.

Roots Manuva Meets Wrongtom “Do Bodda Mi” was released on 12″ and MP3 in July with kind words coming in from as varied camps as Time Out to Tippa Irie, more info over at Big Dada.

Speaking of which, it’s been a long haul but I’m currently putting the finishing touches to more Roots manuva versions for an extended take on last years Slime & Version which sold out almost as soon as it hit the shelves.

I took a couple of days off from the Manuva stuff to twiddle knobs in the studio with the mysterious Phantom, 3 of these tracks will be going on their forthcoming LP with talk of an accompanying Phantom Meets Wrongtom 10″ which would be best described as space-prog-rockabilly-dub. More on that when it’s mixed down.

While all this was happening I still found time to knock up a remix for Jimmy Screech’s “Jamaica” in the shape of some scratchy old breakbeat meets dub which will be adorning the physical release next month but in the meantime you can grab it online for free alongside a load of other good stuff care of Clash Magazine’s Cross Section Download.

I didn’t stop there with the back to ‘92 jump-up production as I just embarked on a version of Pama’s forthcoming single with the help of UK reggae veteran Michie One, whether it’ll see light of day remains to be seen as I may have gone on a ragga tip a little too much for my own good but we’ll see.

More throwback business came in the shape of a slew of requests to re-up my Kanetiquette mix from last year, so back up it went and the love came flooding back with props coming in from outer-spaceways resident Mixmaster Morris and a brief stint in the top spot over at Percussionlab.

There’s plenty more to share but I’ll leave it at that for now as you probably haven’t even got this far anyway.
